Can I take the 6th drive session before the last day of class?
The Driver's Ed Labs in Oregon are ODOT approved and follow ODOT requirements. This also means that classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training aren't two separate parts of the education — they're deliberately connected.
ODOT requires that the concepts covered in each driving lesson be introduced in the classroom before a student gets behind the wheel to practice them. This sequencing is intentional: Students should arrive at every driving lesson already familiar with what they'll be working on, so the time on the road is spent applying and reinforcing knowledge rather than encountering it for the first time.
In practical terms, this means driving lessons don't all happen during the classroom phase of the program. The material for the 5th driving lesson isn't presented until the final two days of class, so at minimum, the 5th and 6th driving lessons are scheduled after the classroom portion is complete. Depending on scheduling, students may also find that their 3rd and 4th lessons fall after the last day of class as well. This is by design — not a delay. It's simply the program working the way it's supposed to, ensuring every student steps into each lesson prepared and ready to make the most of their time on the road.
