How long do I have to complete the Driver's Ed Lab?

Published:

The teen Driver's Ed Lab can take 4-6 months to complete. Learning safe driving is a skill that cannot be forced fast. It requires a patient and intentional learning process. ODOT regulation requires that the student must pass the drive assessment within 180 days of the first day of class.

Drivony's ODOT-approved Driver's Ed Labs consist of two main components: Classroom education and behind-the-wheel training sessions.

  • Classroom: Students must successfully complete 30 hours of in-class instruction.
  • Behind-the-Wheel: Students must complete 6 hours of drive time and 6 hours of observation time with one of our professional, ODOT-certified instructors.
  • At-Home Behind-the-Wheel: In addition to scheduled behind-the-wheel training sessions, students must log at least 5 hours of guided practice driving outside of their sessions with our instructors.
  • All requirements must be successfully completed before the student turns 18 or obtains their driver's license, whichever comes first.
