Why does a parent have to attend a parent meeting before the beginning of a teen Driver's Ed Lab?

The ODOT Risk Mangement Program requires parent participation. Teaching novice teen drivers through the ODOT program is a collaboration between instructors and parents.

As a parent, you are required to participate in your teens education through a parent meeting and practice driving throughout the course. No amount of classroom instruction can make up for your teen's lack of experience, but learning best practices ensure the best possible foundation for your teen as they embark on a life-long journey of driving.
